In the 18th minute Ilkka Niinimäki shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Untamo Masalin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 22 minutes, Oiva Uhlbäck mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the JJ SumU Akatemia and the Paalasmaa FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Oiva Uhlbäck hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Nuutti Erkkilä showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Otto Kopola in the 26th minute of the match. Paalasmaa FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 29th minute, Heino Kousa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pietari Sillgren took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 30th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Nuutti Erkkilä. Paalasmaa FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Paalasmaa FC's zone, Otto Kopola stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nuutti Erkkilä came out of the goal and Otto Kopola tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Jesse Koivula came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the JJ SumU Akatemia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jesse Koivula couldn't finish the play. JJ SumU Akatemia's Otto Kopola got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nuutti Erkkilä made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Otto Kopola in the 43rd minute of play. Otto Kopola's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nuutti Erkkilä read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

After having played for 51 minutes, Heino Kousa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Paalasmaa FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Heino Kousa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Pietari Lahtela during the 65th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. JJ SumU Akatemia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jesse Koivula was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. It was beautiful to see Paalasmaa FC's Kalle Allen in action when he in the 89th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance!
