When Kalervo Kuoppala fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Super Antar's protests and gave Kalervo Kuoppala a yellow card for diving instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jyri Myllylä in the 21st minute of play forced Super Antar's goalkeeper Jyri Ikonen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half Perhon Kiri were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Jyri Ikonen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Antti Piekkanen in the 79th minute of the match. After having played for 80 minutes, Pertti Heikkinen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Super Antar's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pertti Heikkinen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mikko Viljamaa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Antti Piekkanen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jyri Ikonen having to interfere. Sami Lähteenmäki took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pertti Heikkinen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
