Esa Tallus blasted a shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Paavo Pitkämäki having to make a save. Arsi Normio kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. Esa Tallus received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Through an outstanding action, after 46 minutes, Keijo Ollonen successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Reima Kimmonen was the one to do the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Rieponlahti FC's zone, Jussi Anttila stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Keijo Ollonen came out of the goal and Jussi Anttila tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Keijo Ollonen stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jussi Anttila's shot from short distance in the 57th minute. Keijo Ollonen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jussi Anttila, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Karlsdal FC's Reima Kimmonen got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Keijo Ollonen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jussi Anttila, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. In the 67th minute, Jussi Anttila got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rainer Myllykoski's late challenge caught a Karlsdal FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rainer Myllykoski helped the player get up and apologised. Rainer Myllykoski kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. Rieponlahti FC's Keijo Ollonen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jussi Anttila in the 71st minute of play. Auvo Pyörälä received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Paavo Pitkämäki tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Karlsdal FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. After some careless play in the Karlsdal FC defense, Auvo Pyörälä kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Paavo Pitkämäki. The Karlsdal FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Paavo Pitkämäki should have stopped the shot. If Auvo Pyörälä had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 86th minute, Klaus Jaakkola hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Esa Tallus received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Paavo Pitkämäki tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 90th minute, Jussi Anttila got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 93 played minutes Rieponlahti FC got a freekick which was hit by Esa Tallus. Despite being the better team, Karlsdal FC failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
