The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Aapo Hakanpää during the 11th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Aapo Hakanpää hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. Rafael Haapaniemi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Juhana Saarela in the 16th minute of the match. Risto Koivuranta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Verneri Jantunen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 24 played minutes Metalupuass got a freekick which was hit by Raine Kirjonen. Metalupuass's Sipi Helin got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Risto Koivuranta got free with Verneri Jantunen in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sipi Helin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Risto Koivuranta came free with the goalkeeper in the 36th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Verneri Jantunen could save by the left post. Verneri Jantunen was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Sipi Helin showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 37 minute of play. In the 41st minute, Sipi Helin fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. If Risto Koivuranta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Lasse Hevonkorpi made the kick off in the second half. When Kerkko Paavola fell near the penalty area in the 54th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Metalupuass's protests and gave Kerkko Paavola a yellow card for diving instead. In the 54th minute, Kerkko Paavola hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 55 minutes into the game, Taavetti Ruohiainen was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Oxford United F.C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Metalupuass the free kick. After a rather tough play, Oxford United F.C.'s Taavetti Ruohiainen got a free kick in the 56th minute. Sipi Helin kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. Juhana Saarela recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Metalupuass's Kerkko Paavola got a free kick in the 60th minute. Raine Kirjonen charged in rather forcefully in the 63rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Raine Kirjonen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 62nd minute, one of Metalupuass:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Metalupuass. The referee gave Oxford United F.C. a penalty, 64 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Aapo Hakanpää, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Metalupuass's Rafael Haapaniemi. 2-1. When Sipi Helin came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Metalupuass fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sipi Helin couldn't finish the play. Aimo Markkanen's late challenge caught a Metalupuass's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Aimo Markkanen helped the player get up and apologised. Oxford United F.C.'s Verneri Jantunen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Risto Koivuranta in the 77th minute of play. If Risto Koivuranta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Verneri Jantunen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sipi Helin, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Sipi Helin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Metalupuass's supporters rose to their feet, but Sipi Helin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Verneri Jantunen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Oxford United F.C.'s Juhana Saarela got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Verneri Jantunen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sulho Hautaniemi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sulho Hautaniemi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 101st minute. Verneri Jantunen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Metalupuass were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
