Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sulo Olkkonen in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tahvo Pikkarainen prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Sulo Olkkonen came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Västersund fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sulo Olkkonen couldn't finish the play. Västersund's Sulo Olkkonen got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The shot was stopped by Peter Kananen but with some difficulty. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Aaro Kuki managed to get in a good position for a shot. PSY's supporters rose to their feet, but Aaro Kuki was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Peter Kananen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Västersund's zone, Aaro Kuki stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Peter Kananen came out of the goal and Aaro Kuki tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Peter Kananen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Reko Hannukainen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Aaro Kuki in the 47th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Peter Kananen saved Västersund from getting behind.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sulo Olkkonen was the one to do the kick off.
