Teijo Kopola made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Heimo Helminen in the 18th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Heimo Helminen in the 19th minute of play forced Korsnös's goalkeeper Teijo Kopola to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Korsnös's Valentin Keskinarkaus got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Teijo Kopola made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jari Kamppuri in the 23rd minute. In the 29th minute Valentin Keskinarkaus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Taavetti Pursiainen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Mormons FC getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Aukusti Mäkiaho hit a great ball. If Jari Kamppuri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Heimo Helminen to strike the kick off in the second half. When Jari Kamppuri came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Mormons FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jari Kamppuri couldn't finish the play. 74 minutes into the match, Jari Kamppuri notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Korsnös's Teijo Kopola. Teijo Kopola was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Tuomo Hakaniemi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 84 played minutes Mormons FC got a freekick which was hit by Aatami Suoste. Korsnös's supporters crossed their fingers, but Valentin Keskinarkaus was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Keijo Torkkeli fell near the penalty area in the 97th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mormons FC's protests and gave Keijo Torkkeli a yellow card for diving instead. After 97 played minutes Mormons FC got a freekick which was hit by Keijo Torkkeli. When Aappo Vihtilä came up free with the goalie in the 99th minute, the Korsnös fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aappo Vihtilä couldn't finish the play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Mormons FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Korsnös had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
