Puromäki's Oliver Pärssinen got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Oliver Pärssinen blasted a shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ilkka Kuusiniemi having to make a save. 12 minutes into the match, Öjnaa's goal looked a bit too open when Taisto Timoska came free, but Ilkka Kuusiniemi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 13 minutes into the game, Kaapro Kaltiainen recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Ilkka Kuusiniemi. Kaapro Kaltiainen showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Sami Hietaharju might have been able to make a better finish in the 15th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ilkka Kuusiniemi. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sami Hietaharju ran back to his position shaking his head. Puromäki's Eeli Vihko played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Allan Jokilahti in the 21st minute of play. Gabriel Tähtinen was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 23 minutes into the match. 22 minutes into the game, one of Puromäki:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 28th minute, Taisto Timoska made a precise shot to the right of Ilkka Kuusiniemi. Öjnaa's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. Esa Tuomisalo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ilkka Kuusiniemi having to interfere. Eeli Vihko showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Klaus Kärnä in the 35th minute of the match. After 36 minutes, Jarkko Halonen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Öjnaa and the Puromäki players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Öjnaa getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Jarkko Halonen hit a great ball. 38 minutes into the match, Puromäki's goal looked a bit too open when Allan Jokilahti came free, but Eeli Vihko reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 42nd minute Esa Tuomisalo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ilkka Kuusiniemi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Esa Tuomisalo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Allan Jokilahti to strike the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Öjnaa's zone, Esa Tuomisalo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ilkka Kuusiniemi came out of the goal and Esa Tuomisalo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Eeli Vihko made a fantastic save in the 62nd minute, when Allan Jokilahti sent off a good shot on target. The audience was convinced that Esa Tuomisalo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ilkka Kuusiniemi was relentless in the 66th minute of the game. Oliver Pärssinen might have been able to make a better finish in the 67th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ilkka Kuusiniemi. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Puromäki's Jyrki Pölönen quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Rainer Kärki, made in the 77th minute of the game. Mika Reinikka's late challenge caught a Puromäki's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mika Reinikka helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Puromäki booed when Öjnaa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mika Reinikka didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ilkka Kuusiniemi came out of the goal in the 87th minute to try and stop a shot by Puromäki's Esa Tuomisalo. But to his dismay, Esa Tuomisalo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Allan Jokilahti in the 92nd minute of play forced Puromäki's goalkeeper Eeli Vihko to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Puromäki fans cheered their team off the field, for while Öjnaa had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
