The audience was convinced that Antti Savijoki's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ilkka Kuusiniemi was relentless in the 7th minute of the game. If Paavo Kyrönlahti had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 11th minute Paavo Kyrönlahti shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ilkka Kuusiniemi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ilkka Kuusiniemi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Esa Laitila in the 13th minute of the match. In the 19th minute, Esa Laitila got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 21st minute, but Malvin Elenes got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving Vakkuri IFK hanging dry this time. Öjnaa's Ilkka Kuusiniemi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Esa Laitila in the 24th minute of play. After 25 minutes of play, Vakkuri IFK's Paavo Kyrönlahti made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ilkka Kuusiniemi was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 40th minute, Sandu Comșa left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Vakkuri IFK fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. 44 minutes into the match, Vakkuri IFK's goalkeeper Malvin Elenes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Allan Jokilahti. Ilkka Kuusiniemi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paavo Kyrönlahti, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. Esa Laitila took the ball and in the 47 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ilkka Kuusiniemi. Ilkka Kuusiniemi dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-4. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Esa Laitila made a kick off. Panu Palonen kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Rainer Kärki received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Malvin Elenes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ilkka Kuusiniemi was a little too slow when Sandu Comșa got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 63rd minute. The score was now 0-5. Ilkka Kuusiniemi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paavo Kyrönlahti, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Öjnaa's Ilkka Kuusiniemi got control of the ball when Antti Savijoki tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ilkka Kuusiniemi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sandu Comșa in the 76th minute of the match. Ilkka Kuusiniemi made a fantastic save in the 79th minute, when Esa Laitila sent off a good shot on target. After some careless play in the Öjnaa defense, Sandu Comșa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ilkka Kuusiniemi. The Öjnaa fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ilkka Kuusiniemi should have stopped the shot. The crowd rose to their feet as Sandu Comșa kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ilkka Kuusiniemi. That made the score 0-7 in the 88 minute of play. Mika Reinikka hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. When Esa Laitila fell near the penalty area in the 97th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vakkuri IFK's protests and gave Esa Laitila a yellow card for diving instead. In the 97th match minute, Vakkuri IFK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Esa Laitila to maneuver through the defense. When the match was over Vakkuri IFK could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Öjnaa throughout the match.
