Rainer Kärki received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Pasi Reinikainen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, FC Helmeri's Santeri Leonoff got a free kick in the 7th minute. In the 9th minute, Klaus Kärnä got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. FC Helmeri's Pasi Reinikainen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Allan Jokilahti in the 10th minute of play. Valio Höök got a throw-in 14 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Jarkko Halonen. After 18 minutes, Arto Martikainen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Helmeri and the Öjnaa players grew even worse after the yellow card. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Herman Kangasniemi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Öjnaa's supporters rose to their feet, but Herman Kangasniemi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pasi Reinikainen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Pasi Reinikainen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Klaus Kärnä, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. FC Helmeri's Pasi Reinikainen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rainer Kärki in the 32nd minute of play. 34 minutes into the match, Öjnaa's goal looked a bit too open when Pasi Hentunen came free, but Ilkka Kuusiniemi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 35th minute, Rami Häkkinen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Panu Palonen's late challenge caught a FC Helmeri's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Panu Palonen helped the player get up and apologised. 1-1 came through a penalty shot after 39 played minutes, when FC Helmeri:s Risto Koponen calmly waited for Öjnaa:s goalkeeper to move before he rolled in the ball by the right post. The crowd rose to their feet as Pasi Hentunen kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ilkka Kuusiniemi. That made the score 2-1 in the 42 minute of play. In the 45th minute Janne Paananen suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. When Valio Höök fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Öjnaa's protests and gave Valio Höök a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Öjnaa's Valio Höök got a free kick in the 46th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Pasi Hentunen stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Allan Jokilahti struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Pasi Reinikainen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Öjnaa. After a rather tough play, FC Helmeri's Risto Koponen got a free kick in the 58th minute. Pasi Reinikainen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Klaus Kärnä in the 60th minute. 61 minutes into the match, FC Helmeri's goal looked a bit too open when Allan Jokilahti came free, but Pasi Reinikainen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Klaus Kärnä came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Öjnaa fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Klaus Kärnä couldn't finish the play. 65 minutes into the match, FC Helmeri's goal looked a bit too open when Rainer Kärki came free, but Pasi Reinikainen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Allan Jokilahti in the 68th minute of play forced FC Helmeri's goalkeeper Pasi Reinikainen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Allan Jokilahti in the 69th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pasi Reinikainen saved FC Helmeri from getting behind. If Klaus Kärnä had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Rainer Kärki sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Pasi Reinikainen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Allan Jokilahti, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. Klaus Kärnä fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pasi Reinikainen having to interfere. Jarkko Halonen might have been able to make a better finish in the 80th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pasi Reinikainen. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jarkko Halonen ran back to his position shaking his head. Allan Jokilahti sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Rainer Kärki had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in FC Helmeri's zone, Klaus Kärnä stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pasi Reinikainen came out of the goal and Klaus Kärnä tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Allan Jokilahti received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Pasi Reinikainen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Öjnaa's Allan Jokilahti in the 91st minute got a chance for a shot 91st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye FC Helmeri's goalie prevented a goal. Jarkko Halonen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pasi Reinikainen having to interfere. FC Helmeri were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Öjnaa for a fine match.
