The crowd rose to their feet as Åbo United's Into Wallden slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Mikael Puumala. That made the score 1-0 after 3 minutes of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Into Wallden managed to get in a good position for a shot. Åbo United's supporters rose to their feet, but Into Wallden was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mikael Puumala breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Petes IFK's zone, Timo Kauppila stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mikael Puumala came out of the goal and Timo Kauppila tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Aapo Kurri showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alvar Nitti in the 20th minute of the match. Alvar Nitti took the ball and in the 22 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Aapo Kurri. Aapo Kurri dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Into Wallden struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Mikael Puumala didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Åbo United. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Juhapekka Lundell during the 30th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Petes IFK's Voitto Huppunen got a free kick in the 32nd minute. Ilkka Siltavirta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mikael Puumala having to interfere. Petes IFK's Mikael Puumala played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Into Wallden in the 36th minute of play. Ilkka Siltavirta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Mikael Puumala tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Into Wallden got free with Mikael Puumala in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After having played for 43 minutes, Into Wallden managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Åbo United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Into Wallden was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Åbo United's zone, Aki Tähtinen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aapo Kurri came out of the goal and Aki Tähtinen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alvar Nitti stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Timo Kauppila recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 58th minute, Saku Jatkola got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Into Wallden in the 60th minute of play forced Petes IFK's goalkeeper Mikael Puumala to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Into Wallden had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 67th match minute, Petes IFK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jyrki Huppunen to maneuver through the defense. Into Wallden fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mikael Puumala having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Into Wallden's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mikael Puumala was relentless in the 71st minute of the game. Rubens Paranaense's late challenge caught a Petes IFK's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rubens Paranaense helped the player get up and apologised. In the 76th match minute, Åbo United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rubens Paranaense to maneuver through the defense. Aapo Kurri showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alvar Nitti, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. In the 82nd minute of the match Petes IFK got a corner. Åbo United's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Alvar Reponen ran over to the corner to take the kick. After 83 played minutes Åbo United got a freekick which was hit by Saku Jatkola. Mikael Puumala came out of the goal and Ilkka Siltavirta tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
