Sauli Forss made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tero Karvonen in the 13th minute. After a rather tough play, Saarimäki FC's Onni Rantala got a free kick in the 15th minute. After 19 played minutes Saarimäki FC got a freekick which was hit by Atso Koivu. In the 20th minute, one of Saarimäki FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Saarimäki FC. Sakari Kaarniemi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Benjamin Salonen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jaakob Sulin hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. Lasse Salminen struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. Sauli Forss didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Jaguar. Tero Karvonen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sauli Forss having to interfere. Sakari Kaarniemi came out of the goal in the 43rd minute to try and stop a shot by Saarimäki FC's Teijo Viinanen. But to his dismay, Teijo Viinanen quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. If Tero Karvonen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

In the 51st minute Teijo Viinanen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sakari Kaarniemi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 54 played minutes Saarimäki FC got a freekick which was hit by Seppo Wallenius. Lasse Salminen took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 55th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Sauli Forss. Saarimäki FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Teijo Viinanen in the 57th minute of play forced FC Jaguar's goalkeeper Sakari Kaarniemi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 67th minute, Teijo Viinanen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 范德坤's late challenge caught a Saarimäki FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Teijo Viinanen in the 79th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sakari Kaarniemi saved FC Jaguar from getting behind. The audience was convinced that Tero Karvonen's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sauli Forss was relentless in the 82nd minute of the game. Ville Pietikäinen's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sauli Forss read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play.
