In the 16th minute the ball was on its way in behind dfg's goalkeeper Pertti Leinonen, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A collision led to dfg getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Kim Hannukainen hit a great ball. In the 19th match minute, Strömsö IFK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jarkko Saastamoinen to maneuver through the defense. 20 minutes into the match, Strömsö IFK's goal looked a bit too open when Riku Ollikainen came free, but Jari Salonen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Veikko Kulonen fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Strömsö IFK's protests and gave Veikko Kulonen a yellow card for diving instead. In the 21st minute, Veikko Kulonen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 24 minutes into the match, Visa Eklund had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jari Salonen. Strömsö IFK's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Visa Eklund was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Pertti Leinonen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ukko Ruohonen, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. Thanks to some nice moves Veikko Kulonen could shoot a difficult shot in the 33rd minute, which Pertti Leinonen however easily saved by the left post. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Pasi Peltola during the 36th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Pasi Peltola hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. In the 38th minute of the match, Arttu Hernesniemi got a very nice opportunity to score, but Pertti Leinonen was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Riku Ollikainen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Strömsö IFK's Arttu Hernesniemi got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ukko Ruohonen was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Niilo Jussilainen in the 56th minute of play forced dfg's goalkeeper Pertti Leinonen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 59 played minutes Strömsö IFK got a freekick which was hit by Esko Lähteenmäki. Pertti Leinonen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arttu Hernesniemi in the 65th minute of play. Visa Eklund could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 85th minute of the match, but Jari Salonen made a huge save. Arttu Hernesniemi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Pertti Leinonen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 89th minute, Ilari Vesanen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 94th minute Jarkko Saastamoinen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pertti Leinonen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Although Strömsö IFK had been in control for most of the match, dfg still came away with the win.
