Kultapossukerho's Uolevi Hagman was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Leo Niemi in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Elbert Hand took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Urmas Väänänen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sixto Ugutz in the 16th minute of play forced FC Paju's goalkeeper Leo Niemi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Leo Niemi stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nuutti Vauhkonen's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. Sixto Ugutz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leo Niemi having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sixto Ugutz in the 25th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Leo Niemi saved FC Paju from getting behind. Leo Niemi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nuutti Vauhkonen, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Kultapossukerho's Elbert Hand proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Kultapossukerho from getting a goal against them. After some careless play in the FC Paju defense, Terho Litja kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Leo Niemi. The FC Paju fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Leo Niemi should have stopped the shot. In the 35th minute, Urmas Väänänen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jaakkima Lampinen got free with Elbert Hand in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sixto Ugutz in the 38th minute of play forced FC Paju's goalkeeper Leo Niemi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kultapossukerho's Andy Jackson got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Heikki Furuholm made a kick off.
