Aappo Tuominen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gigi Mantu having to interfere. Paihola were furious when Eeli Sorsa was red carded, 6 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The referee gave Mannerheim a penalty, 9 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Albert Jokilahti, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Paihola's Mika Arkivuo. 0-1. Oliver Sainomaa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Gigi Mantu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Aappo Tuominen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 21 played minutes Paihola got a freekick which was hit by Veijo Myllynen. Kullervo Niemivirta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mika Arkivuo having to interfere. Mika Arkivuo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kullervo Niemivirta's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. 36 minutes into the match, Mannerheim's Albert Jokilahti broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. If Aappo Tuominen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 40 minutes, Oliver Sainomaa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Paihola's supporters crossed their fingers, but Oliver Sainomaa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Kullervo Niemivirta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Kullervo Niemivirta was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd match minute, Mannerheim was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marko Takala to maneuver through the defense. Aappo Tuominen struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Gigi Mantu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Paihola. In the 69thth minute of the game Aappo Tuominen who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mannerheim's Gigi Mantu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Aappo Tuominen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 83 minutes, Kullervo Niemivirta made it 1-3 with a short kick to the right side. Paihola's Mika Arkivuo tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After having played for 89 minutes, Oliver Sainomaa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Paihola's supporters crossed their fingers, but Oliver Sainomaa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Aappo Tuominen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Paihola getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Pekko Lumijärvi hit a great ball.
