Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Arno Kasepalu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kuuno Varendi read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 12th minute of play. In the 14th minute, Bas Geerds ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Kuuno Ess was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arno Kasepalu in the 24th minute of play forced Lyaaniste's goalkeeper Kuuno Varendi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bas Geerds fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kuuno Ess having to interfere. Aivar Maandi struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Kuuno Ess didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lyaaniste. Tom Niilus was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 45 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 44th minute of the game. One of Lyaaniste:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Nurmekula:s goal. Olev Vaga walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Hans Luht stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 57th minute, Nurmekula's Hans Luht ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Kuuno Varendi. Kuuno Varendi yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. Kuuno Varendi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hans Luht in the 62nd minute of the match. In the 66th minute, Janis Uustal sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Nurmekula's Kuuno Ess didn't even have to move. After a rather tough play, Nurmekula's Elari Moodne got a free kick in the 67th minute. If Arno Kasepalu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 75 minutes into the match, Lyaaniste's goal looked a bit too open when Hans Luht came free, but Kuuno Varendi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Tiit Rääbis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 83rd minute of the match, Arno Kasepalu got a very nice opportunity to score, but Kuuno Varendi was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Kuuno Ess tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 94 minutes into the match, Nurmekula's goal looked a bit too open when Aivar Maandi came free, but Kuuno Ess reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kuuno Varendi came out of the goal in the 97th minute to try and stop a shot by Nurmekula's Hans Luht. But to his dismay, Hans Luht quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2.
