In the 15th minute Jürgen Loodus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elmu Kruus saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 16 minutes, Jörgen Ülavere mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Surju and the Karlova players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 16th match minute, Surju was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jörgen Ülavere to maneuver through the defense. Hugo Lemsalu struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. If Eimar Luts had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sepo Ernesaks received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Märten Kuuse tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Surju's Elmu Kruus played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jürgen Loodus in the 58th minute of play. When Jürgen Loodus fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Karlova's protests and gave Jürgen Loodus a yellow card for diving instead. Jörgen Ülavere was shown his second yellow card after 67 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. If Hugo Lemsalu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jürgen Loodus received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Elmu Kruus tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Surju players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
