Tomasmyae's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sulev Silm was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jaan Leinatamm in the 20th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Volli Ilves saved Martsa from getting behind. Volli Ilves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kalju Noorsalu in the 22nd minute of play. After 25 played minutes Martsa got a freekick which was hit by Bernhard Asjalik. In the 26th minute, Aivar Ojasaar got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jaan Leinatamm could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Volli Ilves made a huge save. Kalju Noorsalu might have been able to make a better finish in the 54th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Volli Ilves. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kalju Noorsalu ran back to his position shaking his head.
