Arkas Kotsilimbas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chronis Konstantatos having to interfere. In the 62nd match minute, Vageníti was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Asopos Pintzopoulos to maneuver through the defense. 63 minutes into the game, Melikertes Karkampasis was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sunderland A.F.C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vageníti the free kick. After 63 played minutes Sunderland A.F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Melikertes Karkampasis. Olivar Kahn stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nessos Fitzios's shot from short distance in the 66th minute. When Kanake Rousakis came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Vageníti fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kanake Rousakis couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Vageníti booed when Sunderland A.F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zacharias Moisakos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sunderland A.F.C.'s Arkas Kotsilimbas pulled a muscle in his leg after 74 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Ankaios Kaisaris's late challenge caught a Sunderland A.F.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ankaios Kaisaris helped the player get up and apologised. 74 minutes into the game, one of Vageníti:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Melikertes Karkampasis was shown his second yellow card after 80 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. The audience was convinced that Kanake Rousakis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Olivar Kahn was relentless in the 81st minute of the game. After having played for 83 minutes, Kanake Rousakis managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vageníti's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kanake Rousakis was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Sunderland A.F.C. supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Sunderland A.F.C. would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
