Animals from Belarus's Tadeuz Kamenich played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anatoly Labuch in the 43rd minute of play. If Vladimir Tsarik had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Kazimir Egorov to make the kick off. If Sergey Nizovtsov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mscislav Makovsky in the 76th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tadeuz Kamenich saved Animals from Belarus from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 78th minute, Mscislav Makovsky managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gomel's supporters rose to their feet, but Mscislav Makovsky was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tadeuz Kamenich breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 79th match minute, Animals from Belarus was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Haryton Virych to maneuver through the defense. 83 minutes into the match, Animals from Belarus's goal looked a bit too open when Vladimir Tsarik came free, but Tadeuz Kamenich reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Gomel's Mscislav Makovsky slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Tadeuz Kamenich. That made the score 0-4 after 84 minutes of play. When Sergey Gavrilov fell near the penalty area in the 92nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Animals from Belarus's protests and gave Sergey Gavrilov a yellow card for diving instead. After 92 played minutes Animals from Belarus got a freekick which was hit by Sergey Gavrilov. Gomel's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
