With a little luck, FK Austria Wien's Yasen Slivenski got control of the ball when Robustiano Araoz tried to sneak it across the goal line. Robustiano Araoz who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 39thth minute tested the skills of Yasen Slivenski when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Robustiano Araoz ran back to his position shaking his head. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The referee ignored FK Austria Wien's protests and gave Zahari Pantaleev a yellow card for diving instead.
