The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 13 minutes, Teofan Kalkandzhiev managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. spartak varna fc's supporters crossed their fingers, but Teofan Kalkandzhiev was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 16 minutes into the game, Yasen Yarlovski was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. spartak varna fc's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC S H U M E N the free kick. Yasen Yarlovski hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. Anatoli Manolkov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sergey Denkov, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Tzocho Grekov recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sergey Denkov in the 24th minute of play forced spartak varna fc's goalkeeper Anatoli Manolkov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The FC S H U M E N fans' excitement grew in the 34th match minute when FC S H U M E N's Tzocho Grekov looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After having played for 38 minutes, Tzocho Grekov managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC S H U M E N's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tzocho Grekov was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Yasen Yarlovski who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 45thth minute tested the skills of Simeon Mandinov when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After the first half FC S H U M E N were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Sergey Denkov recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 51 played minutes spartak varna fc got a freekick which was hit by Yanko Pindev. Anatoli Manolkov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Strahil Staev in the 56th minute of play. In the 58th of the match, Sergey Denkov tried to place the ball in the upper right corner, but Anatoli Manolkov got in the way and made a wonderful save. Yasen Yarlovski sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Yanko Pindev had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Tzocho Grekov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Anatoli Manolkov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sergey Denkov in the 79th minute of play. 81 minutes into the match, FC S H U M E N's Tzocho Grekov sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Anatoli Manolkov narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Yanko Pindev's late challenge caught a FC S H U M E N's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Yanko Pindev helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of FC S H U M E N booed when spartak varna fc was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Yanko Pindev didn't get a good kick on the ball. 87 minutes into the match, FC S H U M E N's Tzocho Grekov sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Anatoli Manolkov narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 89th minute Teofan Kalkandzhiev shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Simeon Mandinov saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The FC S H U M E N supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing FC S H U M E N would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
