Grisha Stanilov blasted a shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Anastas Kostakiev having to make a save. After 10 played minutes Brestica got a freekick which was hit by Kiril Benov. 12 minutes into the match, Siymen's Velichko Dungarov sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Anastas Kostakiev narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Arhangel Chuchkov came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Brestica fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arhangel Chuchkov couldn't finish the play. Grisha Stanilov struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Anastas Kostakiev didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Siymen. The supporters of Brestica booed when Siymen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Geno Goshev didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kiril Benov fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Namiq Zülfüqarov having to interfere. Arhangel Chuchkov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. After a defensive mix-up in Siymen's zone, Arhangel Chuchkov stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Namiq Zülfüqarov came out of the goal and Arhangel Chuchkov tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Siymen getting a freekick after 48 minutes play. Milcho Penelov hit a great ball. Namiq Zülfüqarov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dragolyub Ruevski in the 49th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Velichko Dungarov made a kick off. In the 54th minute the ball was on its way in behind Siymen's goalkeeper Namiq Zülfüqarov, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Lazar Todorchev came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Brestica fans jumped to their feet.
