The Flying Dutchman fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. 17 minutes into the game, Ahmet Haşim Temizhan threw the ball into play from the sideline. Flying Dutchman's Svetlan Lazarov quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. In the 20th minute Quinito Merodo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dieguinho Paraíba saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half Flying Dutchman were leading 2-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Quinito Merodo to make the kick off.
