Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Mevagissey's Marat Podolyakin started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Gocha Kikalishvili took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pavel Goloviznin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anatoly Paghava in the 6th minute of play forced Mevagissey's goalkeeper Uta Pawletko to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Rochdale booed when Mevagissey was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Irakli Mingrelsky didn't get a good kick on the ball. Botchia Sulaberidze received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Uta Pawletko came out and tried to block the shot, but Botchia Sulaberidze slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 10th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Marat Podolyakin in the 13th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gocha Kikalishvili prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Gocha Kikalishvili made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mindia Pilievi in the 16th minute of play. Gocha Kikalishvili showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marat Podolyakin, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Gocha Kikalishvili showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pavel Goloviznin in the 25th minute of the match. After 29 minutes of play, Mevagissey's Mindia Pilievi made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gocha Kikalishvili was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a defensive mix-up in Rochdale's zone, Mindia Pilievi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gocha Kikalishvili came out of the goal and Mindia Pilievi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With 37 minutes on the clock, Shavleg Kikalishvili commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 39th minute there was a penalty for Mevagissey. Irakli Mingrelsky stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Gocha Kikalishvili. 1-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Avtandil Mkheidze in the 44th minute of play forced Rochdale's goalkeeper Gocha Kikalishvili to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gocha Kikalishvili showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pavel Goloviznin, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. 47 minutes into the match, Rochdale's goal looked a bit too open when Marat Podolyakin came free, but Gocha Kikalishvili reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 48thth minute of the game Marat Podolyakin who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Rochdale's Gocha Kikalishvili was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
When Marat Podolyakin came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the Mevagissey fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marat Podolyakin couldn't finish the play. Rochdale's Gocha Kikalishvili proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Rochdale from getting a goal against them. Mindia Pilievi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 74 played minutes Rochdale got a freekick which was hit by Sese Goraniskov. In the 78th match minute, Rochdale was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sese Goraniskov to maneuver through the defense. In the 84th minute of the match Irakli Mingrelsky shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gocha Kikalishvili showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Mindia Pilievi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gocha Kikalishvili showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marat Podolyakin, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. The supporters of Mevagissey booed when Rochdale was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Botchia Sulaberidze didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mevagissey played a much better game than Rochdale and deserved their victory. The Rochdale players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
