Phil Tonnochy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 14th minute Tofiq Zülfüqarov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mänsur Rzayev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Faiq Kazimov in the 15th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Phil Tonnochy prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 21 minutes into the match, Zengezur's goal looked a bit too open when Faiq Kazimov came free, but Phil Tonnochy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Faiq Kazimov got free with Phil Tonnochy in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Zengezur were awarded a corner in the 39th minute after Şamaxı Bankirlər's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Qaryağdı Älibalalı took the corner. Şamaxı Bankirlər's Mänsur Rzayev played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Şahin Ağankäri in the 45th minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Şahin Ağankäri to strike the kick off in the second half. Druțu Cristian hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Zengezur's Phil Tonnochy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ruy Faria in the 71st minute of play. Phil Tonnochy came out of the goal in the 72nd minute to try and stop a shot by Şamaxı Bankirlər's Oscar Mas. But to his dismay, Oscar Mas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. When Tofiq Zülfüqarov fell near the penalty area in the 78th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Zengezur's protests and gave Tofiq Zülfüqarov a yellow card for diving instead. In the 78th match minute, Zengezur was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tofiq Zülfüqarov to maneuver through the defense. Phil Tonnochy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Oscar Mas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
