Flushing's Petr Tochilin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to save Flushing from getting a goal against them. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Yakov Tarasov made a kick off. Zinoviy Abaidulin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arkadiy Kuzmin having to interfere. In the 79th minute the ball was on its way in behind Orpington United's goalkeeper Arkadiy Kuzmin, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Zinoviy Abaidulin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Arkadiy Kuzmin was relentless in the 82nd minute of the game.
