Stepan Tsypkin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mümtazer Hadim having to interfere. 34 minutes into the match, Denholme City's goal looked a bit too open when Ivan Lomonosov came free, but Igor Kononov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
