The supporters of Ilkeston booed when Donnington AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alex Dixon didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 7th minute Danny Shuttleworth shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Harry Rusby saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 11 minutes into the match, Connor Barr had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Harry Rusby. Donnington AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Connor Barr was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Donnington AFC's Lance Fisher shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 15th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Ian Galloway but with some difficulty. If Danny Shuttleworth had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Danny Shuttleworth received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Harry Rusby tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Connor Barr had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Donald Billing hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. If Connor Barr had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tim Blacksmith could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Ian Galloway made a huge save. Danny Shuttleworth sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Connor Barr in the 41st minute of play forced Donnington AFC's goalkeeper Harry Rusby to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ian Galloway dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Danny Shuttleworth's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 94thth minute, Harry Rusby skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. The Donnington AFC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Ilkeston's performance. The match ended with a win for Ilkeston.
