Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Nigel Cawood kicked off to start the match. After having played for 3 minutes, Phillip Dove managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chelmsford's supporters crossed their fingers, but Phillip Dove was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gregory Fox fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tod Gale having to interfere. When Geoff Sullivan came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Chelmsford fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Geoff Sullivan couldn't finish the play. 15 minutes into the game, Syd Holden was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tettenhall United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Chelmsford the free kick. A collision led to Tettenhall United getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Syd Holden hit a great ball. In the 18th minute, Nigel Cawood made a precise shot to the right of Tod Gale. Chelmsford's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. After 22 played minutes Tettenhall United got a freekick which was hit by Zak Locke. In the 24th minute of the match, Geoff Sullivan tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Robin Pitts saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Tettenhall United's Nigel Cawood got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nigel Cawood in the 30th minute of play forced Chelmsford's goalkeeper Tod Gale to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Gregory Fox had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The attack was good, but when Phillip Dove in the 34th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Geoff Sullivan made a kick off. After 54 minutes, Kelvin Wellings mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tettenhall United and the Chelmsford players grew even worse after the yellow card. Kelvin Wellings hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. With a little luck, Chelmsford's Tod Gale got control of the ball when Gregory Fox tried to sneak it across the goal line. Donny Sheringham kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. Chelmsford's Tod Gale proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save Chelmsford from getting a goal against them. Nigel Cawood sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 77thth minute of the game Phillip Dove who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Tettenhall United's Robin Pitts was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of Chelmsford booed when Tettenhall United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ricky Bannister didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tod Gale took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nigel Cawood, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nigel Cawood sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tod Gale was a little too slow when Nigel Cawood got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 86th minute. The score was now 0-3. Geoff Sullivan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Robin Pitts tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 94th minute, Nigel Cawood reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Tod Gale. The goal made the score 0-4. In the 97th match minute, Tettenhall United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ricky Bannister to maneuver through the defense. Syd Holden got his second yellow card in the match during the 98th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Syd Holden kicked well hit freekick during the 99th minute of the match. Lance Pearson shot a long shot in the 100th minute and a light blocked Robin Pitts hadn't a chance when the ball went into goal on his right side. It was 1-4. The Chelmsford fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Tettenhall United were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
