Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Billy Eastwood started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. After 2 played minutes Bedlington got a freekick which was hit by Sidney Davenport. Spike Corby sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Spike Corby in the 6th minute of play forced Chelmsford's goalkeeper Tod Gale to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 8 played minutes Bedlington got a freekick which was hit by Spike Corby. The audience was convinced that Billy Eastwood's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tod Gale was relentless in the 11th minute of the game. In the 15th minute, Matt Couch hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bedlington's Jimmy Flack played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Geoff Sullivan in the 25th minute of play. With his leg Jimmy Flack managed to avoid a goal in the 27thth minute, when Chelmsford's Geoff Sullivan fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 32nd minute, Bedlington's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Phillip Dove fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Spike Corby in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tod Gale prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Phillip Dove received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Jimmy Flack tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jimmy Flack took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Geoff Sullivan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Phillip Dove took the ball and in the 41 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jimmy Flack. Jimmy Flack dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Bedlington's Jimmy Flack proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 47th minute of the match, managed to save Bedlington from getting a goal against them. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Geoff Sullivan stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When the match had gone on for 50 minutes, Billy Eastwood took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Tod Gale to make any attempt to save it. Ross Hay's late challenge caught a Chelmsford's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ross Hay helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Bedlington's Ross Hay got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Billy Eastwood sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Spike Corby could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 59th minute of the match, but Tod Gale made a huge save. In the 69th minute of the match Chelmsford got a corner. Bedlington's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Lance Pearson ran over to the corner to take the kick. The supporters of Bedlington booed when Chelmsford was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joseph Harland didn't get a good kick on the ball. Geoff Sullivan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Phillip Dove received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Jimmy Flack tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Spike Corby sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Chelmsford's zone, Billy Eastwood stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tod Gale came out of the goal and Billy Eastwood tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jimmy Flack showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Geoff Sullivan, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. 89 minutes into the match, Bedlington's goal looked a bit too open when Geoff Sullivan came free, but Jimmy Flack reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jimmy Flack took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Geoff Sullivan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lance Pearson kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. 93 minutes into the match, Chelmsford's goalkeeper Tod Gale had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Spike Corby. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
