Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Geoff Sullivan kicked off to start the match. Joshua Faith's late challenge caught a Chelmsford's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Joshua Faith helped the player get up and apologised. Bob Aldridge made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Phillip Dove in the 10th minute of play. In the 11th minute, Theo Spacey hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alfred Broadhurst sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 21 minutes into the match, Geoff Sullivan had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Bob Aldridge. Sheerness FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Geoff Sullivan was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. With his leg Tod Gale managed to avoid a goal in the 24thth minute, when Sheerness FC's Karl Argent fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 32nd minute, Matt McCormick hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 40 minutes into the game, Phillip Dove cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Bob Aldridge was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Karl Argent recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Alfred Broadhurst sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half Chelmsford were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Karl Argent to strike the kick off in the second half. After 55 played minutes Sheerness FC got a freekick which was hit by Theo Spacey. The audience thought a goal was coming when Phillip Dove got free with Bob Aldridge in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some careless play in the Chelmsford defense, Karl Argent kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tod Gale. The Chelmsford fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tod Gale should have stopped the shot. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Karl Argent in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tod Gale saved Chelmsford from getting behind. Matt McCormick blasted a shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Tod Gale having to make a save. Tod Gale stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Karl Argent's shot from short distance in the 68th minute. Tod Gale took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Karl Argent, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Karl Argent in the 72nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tod Gale saved Chelmsford from getting behind. In the 76th minute the ball was on its way in behind Chelmsford's goalkeeper Tod Gale, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 77 minutes into the game, Stan Leather was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Chelmsford's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sheerness FC the free kick. Matt McCormick kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice moves Matt Couch could shoot a difficult shot in the 84th minute, which Bob Aldridge however easily saved by the left post. Matt McCormick recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Chelmsford's zone, Matt McCormick stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tod Gale came out of the goal and Matt McCormick tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Sheerness FC lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
