The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Rod Fleming took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vinnie Everett, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 6th minute, Joseph Hudson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rod Fleming was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 11th minute, Sol Alsford sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and West Rainton's Rod Fleming didn't even have to move. In the 14th minute, Sol Alsford hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Garth Lawton in the 18th minute of play forced Hunstanton City's goalkeeper Ty Price to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 21 minutes into the match, Hunstanton City's goal looked a bit too open when Garth Lawton came free, but Ty Price reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 24 minutes, Kurt Townson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the West Rainton and the Hunstanton City players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 24th match minute, West Rainton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kurt Townson to maneuver through the defense. Rod Fleming took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vinnie Everett, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Joseph Hudson came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Hunstanton City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joseph Hudson couldn't finish the play. Hunstanton City's Vinnie Everett got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 45thth minute of the game Joseph Hudson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but West Rainton's Rod Fleming was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Garth Lawton made the kick off in the second half. With an all-out effort, Hunstanton City's Rod Fleming threw himself towards the right post 53 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Vinnie Everett, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 57th minute, Hunstanton City's Joseph Hudson dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-2. In the 61st match minute, West Rainton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jerry Bradfield to maneuver through the defense. Joseph Hudson scored 0-3 in the 63rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rod Fleming, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 71st minute Garth Lawton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ty Price saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Louis Ansell might have been able to make a better finish in the 73rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rod Fleming. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Louis Ansell ran back to his position shaking his head. Dylon Cookson charged in rather forcefully in the 74th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dylon Cookson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, West Rainton's Dylon Cookson got a free kick in the 74th minute. Vinnie Everett blasted a shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rod Fleming having to make a save. Ty Price took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Garth Lawton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. West Rainton's Garth Lawton got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Vinnie Everett sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hunstanton City's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
