After a rather tough play, Chelmsford's Stan Leather got a free kick in the 17th minute. Tod Gale stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of John Watson's shot from short distance in the 19th minute. Geoff Sullivan took the ball and in the 21 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Lennie Brewer. Lennie Brewer dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Phillip Dove received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Lennie Brewer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Scott Anderson kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. Lennie Brewer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Geoff Sullivan in the 38th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Wally Wright got free with Tod Gale in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Lennie Brewer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stan Leather in the 41st minute of play. If Geoff Sullivan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 46th minute the ball was on its way in behind BEŞİKTAŞ FC's goalkeeper Lennie Brewer, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Ryan Warne charged in rather forcefully in the 47th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ryan Warne the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 47 played minutes BEŞİKTAŞ FC got a freekick which was hit by Ryan Warne. After the first half Chelmsford were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Geoff Sullivan to strike the kick off in the second half. Lennie Brewer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Geoff Sullivan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Phillip Dove could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 79th minute of the match, but Lennie Brewer made a huge save. Tod Gale showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wally Wright in the 83rd minute of the match. When Bart Winship fell near the penalty area in the 83rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Chelmsford's protests and gave Bart Winship a yellow card for diving instead. Phillip Dove could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Lennie Brewer made a huge save. Phillip Dove's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lennie Brewer read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 91st minute of play. Geoff Sullivan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lennie Brewer having to interfere. Chelmsford's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
