The referee ignored Castletown's protests and gave Ricky Oldham a yellow card for diving instead. In the 2nd match minute, Castletown was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ricky Oldham to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Morden's zone, Ricky Oldham stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jimmy Lydiate came out of the goal and Ricky Oldham tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ricky Oldham could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Jimmy Lydiate made a huge save. Ricky Oldham struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Jimmy Lydiate didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Castletown. In the 26th minute, Castletown's Oscar Lowe dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ricky Oldham got free with Jimmy Lydiate in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Oscar Lowe recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 46th minute, Calum Morgan ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vincent Frampton was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Calum Morgan was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 55 minutes, Jeff Read managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Morden's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jeff Read was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jimmy Lydiate made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ricky Oldham in the 59th minute of play. 62 minutes into the match, Morden's goal looked a bit too open when Ricky Oldham came free, but Jimmy Lydiate reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Oscar Lowe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Ronan Long hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. 89 minutes into the match, Ricky Oldham had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jimmy Lydiate. Morden's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ricky Oldham was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1.
