Clive Bowler ran over to the corner to take the kick. With a little luck, Liverpool FC's Sean Bolton got control of the ball when Jake Mowlem tried to sneak it across the goal line. Clive Bowler took the ball and in the 6 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sean Bolton. Sean Bolton dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Howard Horseman in the 15th minute of play forced Beckton's goalkeeper Les Gibbs to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Liverpool FC's Sean Bolton proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save Liverpool FC from getting a goal against them. Johnnie Bennett sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 23 minutes, Kris Emmerson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Liverpool FC and the Beckton players grew even worse after the yellow card. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Leif Barka stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Sean Bolton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Clive Bowler, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 60 minutes into the match, Liverpool FC's goal looked a bit too open when Clive Bowler came free, but Sean Bolton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sean Bolton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Clive Bowler in the 61st minute of the match. Sean Bolton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Johnnie Bennett, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Clive Bowler received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Sean Bolton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Nigel Hodgson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sean Bolton was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 78th minute, Wayne Radcliffe got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Nigel Hodgson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sean Bolton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Clive Bowler in the 81st minute of play. In the 82nd minute Beckton were awarded a corner. Clive Bowler went to the cornerflag to take it. Nigel Hodgson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Sean Bolton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sean Bolton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wayne Radcliffe in the 89th minute of play. Wayne Radcliffe scored 4-0 in the 90th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Sean Bolton, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Clive Bowler sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
