Jimmy Lydiate made a fantastic save in the 8th minute, when Leif Barka sent off a good shot on target. Leif Barka fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jimmy Lydiate having to interfere. Jimmy Lydiate didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Leif Barka went, in the 17th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Howard Horseman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Jimmy Lydiate tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tristan York kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. In the 26th minute Jeff Read shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sean Bolton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 28th minute, Leif Barka got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Leif Barka had several of the Morden's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 30 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-1 score and a disappointed Jimmy Lydiate as he didn't even see the shot coming. Leif Barka's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jimmy Lydiate read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 33rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Morden's zone, Leif Barka stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jimmy Lydiate came out of the goal and Leif Barka tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Samuel Flintoff recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

Liverpool FC's Kevin Hutchings got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jimmy Lydiate showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Reuben Ablethorpe, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Leif Barka received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Jimmy Lydiate tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 58 minutes into the match, Leif Barka had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jimmy Lydiate. Morden's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Leif Barka was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-1. Leif Barka scored 5-1 in the 62nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jimmy Lydiate, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Kevin Hutchings struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Jimmy Lydiate didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Liverpool FC. Calum Morgan hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. After having played for 73 minutes, Leif Barka managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Liverpool FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Leif Barka was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Leif Barka scored 6-1 in the 75th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jimmy Lydiate, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 79 played minutes Morden got a freekick which was hit by Julian Millman. Leif Barka fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jimmy Lydiate having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Leif Barka's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jimmy Lydiate was relentless in the 89th minute of the game. In the 91stth minute of the game Leif Barka who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Morden's Jimmy Lydiate was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Jimmy Lydiate took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Howard Horseman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jimmy Lydiate showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Howard Horseman, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kevin Hutchings in the 96th minute of play forced Morden's goalkeeper Jimmy Lydiate to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Liverpool FC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
