When Jim Perkins came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Herne Bay FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jim Perkins couldn't finish the play. After 26 minutes, Piers Carsley mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Herne Bay FC and the Downham Market AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jim Perkins got free with Des Yeo in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Harry Devine charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Harry Devine the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 37 played minutes Herne Bay FC got a freekick which was hit by Harry Devine. Jay Floyd received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Robin Laycock tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Jay Floyd managed to get in a good position for a shot. Downham Market AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Jay Floyd was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Robin Laycock breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Robin Laycock showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jay Floyd in the 43rd minute of the match. In the 45th minute, Ian Haines got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ian Haines sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jay Floyd made a kick off. Ian Haines fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Des Yeo having to interfere. Jim Perkins received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Des Yeo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Downham Market AFC's Kieran Draper got a free kick in the 55th minute. Ian Haines fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Des Yeo having to interfere.
