But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Piers Ripley couldn't finish the play. If Alexander Fountain had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 40 minutes into the match, Fakenham's goal looked a bit too open when Justin Collier came free, but Charlie Hird reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 43 minutes into the match, Binsted's goal looked a bit too open when Alexander Downing came free, but Jake Burley reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 44th minute Brian Ridsdale shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jake Burley saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Charlie Hird made a fantastic save in the 47th minute, when Alexander Fountain sent off a good shot on target.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Piers Ripley was the one to do the kick off. Charlie Hird didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Piers Ripley went, in the 63rd minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. Piers Ripley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Charlie Hird tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 88th minute, Piers Ripley left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Binsted fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 6-0. After a defensive mix-up in Fakenham's zone, Piers Ripley stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Charlie Hird came out of the goal and Piers Ripley tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Binsted had played much better football throughout.
