The goalkeeper, Robin Laycock, was totally fooled by Rackenford AFC's Trevor Stockdale, who 39 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ian Haines stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Herne Bay FC's goal looked a bit too open when Jerome Barber came free, but Robin Laycock reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Herne Bay FC's Robin Laycock played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vinnie Osbourne in the 89th minute of play. Robin Laycock made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vinnie Osbourne in the 95th minute of play. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
