In the 4thth minute of the game Gus Westerby who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Downham Market AFC's Des Yeo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Callum Black received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Des Yeo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Des Yeo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ashley Brooks in the 12th minute of play. In the 15th minute, Callum Black got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gus Westerbys short, quick shot in the 17thth minute got Des Yeo to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Damion Lonsdale showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Keiran Blower in the 20th minute of the match. When Stalybridge United's Gus Westerby in the 22nd minute got a chance for a shot 22nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Downham Market AFC's goalie prevented a goal. Stalybridge United's Callum Black got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gus Westerby sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Downham Market AFC's Des Yeo got control of the ball when Callum Black tried to sneak it across the goal line. 31 minutes into the game, Sidney Freeman recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Des Yeo. Sidney Freeman showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. After 34th play minutes Gus Westerby shot 2-0, a short shot which went by Des Yeo and just under the crossbar into goal. After a defensive mix-up in Downham Market AFC's zone, Sidney Freeman stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Des Yeo came out of the goal and Sidney Freeman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

If Gus Westerby had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gus Westerby fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Des Yeo having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gus Westerby in the 62nd minute of play forced Downham Market AFC's goalkeeper Des Yeo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 63rd minute, Sidney Freeman got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The Stalybridge United fans' excitement grew in the 66th match minute when Stalybridge United's Gus Westerby looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 72nd match minute, Downham Market AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Thomas Oldham to maneuver through the defense. 73 minutes into the game, Kieran Draper was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Downham Market AFC's Des Yeo tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 87 minutes into the match, Sidney Freeman had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Des Yeo. Downham Market AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sidney Freeman was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Stalybridge United fully deserved thier win.
