Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Ian Woodcock took the ball and in the 10 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Des Yeo. Des Yeo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Vinnie Cardwell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Des Yeo having to interfere. Danny Bland sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 33 minutes into the match, Maldon's goal looked a bit too open when Jay Floyd came free, but Duncan Haigh reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 36 played minutes Downham Market AFC got a freekick which was hit by Keiran Blower. Vinnie Cardwell received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Des Yeo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Vinnie Cardwell made a kick off. Danny Bland recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Vinnie Cardwell came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Maldon fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vinnie Cardwell couldn't finish the play. Duncan Haigh stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rich Pascoe's shot from short distance in the 80th minute. 81 minutes into the game, Ian Woodcock was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Maldon's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Downham Market AFC the free kick. In the 82nd match minute, Maldon was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ian Woodcock to maneuver through the defense. Downham Market AFC's Rich Pascoe got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Rich Pascoe fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Duncan Haigh having to interfere. 95 minutes into the game, Maldon's Danny Bland nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Des Yeo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3.
