After some careless play in the Stalybridge United defense, Brian Ridsdale kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Damion Lonsdale. The Stalybridge United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Damion Lonsdale should have stopped the shot. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Deon Porter couldn't finish the play. Gus Westerby blasted a shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Charlie Hird having to make a save. With 59 minutes on the clock, Albert Stockley commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. 64 minutes into the match, Stalybridge United's goal looked a bit too open when Brian Ridsdale came free, but Damion Lonsdale reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Deon Porter came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Stalybridge United fans jumped to their feet. Fakenham's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ashley Brooks was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. After a defensive mix-up in Fakenham's zone, Deon Porter stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Charlie Hird came out of the goal and Deon Porter tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Charlie Hird showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Deon Porter, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. Deon Porter struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. Charlie Hird didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Stalybridge United. Deon Porter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Charlie Hird having to interfere. If Deon Porter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fakenham's Russell Bentley suffered a sore thigh after 84 minutes and couldn't finish the game. When Duncan Nicholls fell near the penalty area in the 84th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Stalybridge United's protests and gave Duncan Nicholls a yellow card for diving instead. In the 85th match minute, Stalybridge United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Duncan Nicholls to maneuver through the defense. Callum Black sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Stalybridge United's Deon Porter got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 90 minutes into the match, Fakenham's goal looked a bit too open when Ashley Brooks came free, but Charlie Hird reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rich Gunn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rich Gunn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Charlie Hird tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Stalybridge United's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
