The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kalskandha Rekhi helped the player get up and apologised. After 4 played minutes Newton Heath FC got a freekick which was hit by Kalskandha Rekhi. Desaraj Virdee sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Angabhu Sangma received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Bhanucandra Kharka tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Newton Heath FC's Jalasa Warwaha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Atisthira Krishnamurthy in the 17th minute of play. 20 minutes into the game, Kalijan Sra was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Newton Heath FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Samtop FC the free kick. In the 21st match minute, Newton Heath FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kalijan Sra to maneuver through the defense. 22 minutes into the match, Samtop FC's Indrabala Barn broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Bhanucandra Kharka took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Desaraj Virdee, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Angabhu Sangma had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Samtop FC's Bhanucandra Kharka played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Angabhu Sangma in the 36th minute of play. In the 45th minute, Angabhu Sangma got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Newton Heath FC's Desaraj Virdee got a good chance for a goal in the 48th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Arshbir Sagoo was the one to do the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Angabhu Sangma managed to get in a good position for a shot. Newton Heath FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Angabhu Sangma was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bhanucandra Kharka breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Samtop FC's Bhanucandra Kharka proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to save Samtop FC from getting a goal against them. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Arshbir Sagoo in the 60th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jalasa Warwaha saved Newton Heath FC from getting behind. Arshbir Sagoo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jalasa Warwaha having to interfere. Arshbir Sagoo charged in rather forcefully in the 67th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Arshbir Sagoo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 68th match minute, Samtop FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arshbir Sagoo to maneuver through the defense. Kalskandha Rekhi struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Bhanucandra Kharka didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Newton Heath FC. In the 74th minute, Samtop FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Desaraj Virdee fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The supporters of Newton Heath FC booed when Samtop FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Atisthira Krishnamurthy didn't get a good kick on the ball. 76 minutes into the match, Samtop FC's goal looked a bit too open when Angabhu Sangma came free, but Bhanucandra Kharka reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Angabhu Sangma fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bhanucandra Kharka having to interfere. Jalasa Warwaha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arshbir Sagoo, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Desaraj Virdee could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Bhanucandra Kharka made a huge save. Angabhu Sangma received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute.
