An unexpectedly hard shot by Atisthira Krishnamurthy in the 5th minute of play forced Phoenix Fire's goalkeeper Dhavalapaksa Saxena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dhanajita Subba fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bhanucandra Kharka having to interfere. Danasagara Rane kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Arshbir Sagoo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dhavalapaksa Saxena having to interfere. Dhanajita Subba received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Bhanucandra Kharka tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dhavalapaksa Saxena took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Atisthira Krishnamurthy, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Arshbir Sagoo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bhanucandra Kharka showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dhanajita Subba, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Harikanta Dango recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 45th minute Atisthira Krishnamurthy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dhavalapaksa Saxena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Arshbir Sagoo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Arshbir Sagoo got free with Dhavalapaksa Saxena in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Dhanajita Subba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 79 minutes into the game, Premjeet Rao was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Samtop FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Phoenix Fire the free kick. Premjeet Rao hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. If Atisthira Krishnamurthy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Phoenix Fire's Harikanta Dango got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 88 minutes into the match, Dhanajita Subba notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Samtop FC's Bhanucandra Kharka. Bhanucandra Kharka was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After having played for 91 minutes, Dhanajita Subba managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Phoenix Fire's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dhanajita Subba was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. For all the effort they put into the match, the Samtop FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Phoenix Fire.
