With his leg Shekhar Sabnis managed to avoid a goal in the 15thth minute, when Elsdon's Cetana Sandhu fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Cetana Sandhu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Shekhar Sabnis having to interfere. 20 minutes into the game, Manjit Sohota cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Devavid Denhoy was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Asvavan Vurghese fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Elsdon's protests and gave Asvavan Vurghese a yellow card for diving instead. Asvavan Vurghese hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Asvavan Vurghese fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Shekhar Sabnis having to interfere. The supporters of Elsdon booed when Hurst Green was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ashwin Subba didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 32nd minute, Elsdon's Asvavan Vurghese dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. In the 41st minute of the match, Cetana Sandhu sent away a good long shot that could have become a goal, but Shekhar Sabnis showed an example of his skillful tending and made the save just under the crossbar. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Asvavan Vurghese made a kick off. Shekhar Sabnis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Asvavan Vurghese in the 52nd minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kalaraja Patil during the 52nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Kalaraja Patil hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. 57 minutes into the game, Asvavan Vurghese cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. When Asvavan Vurghese came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Elsdon fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Asvavan Vurghese couldn't finish the play. In the 88th minute Asvavan Vurghese shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Shekhar Sabnis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 89 minutes into the match, Hurst Green's goal looked a bit too open when Asvavan Vurghese came free, but Shekhar Sabnis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Asvavan Vurghese sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Elsdon fans cheered their team off the field, for while Hurst Green had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
