After 9 played minutes Viet Tri got a freekick which was hit by Phạm Tấn Dũng. An unexpectedly hard shot by Đặng Viet in the 10th minute of play forced Viet Tri's goalkeeper Nguyễn Nam to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 16 minutes, Đỗ Chuong managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hai Phong's supporters crossed their fingers, but Đỗ Chuong was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 17th match minute, Hai Phong was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hoàng Tuan Hoang to maneuver through the defense. Nguyễn Thien received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Nguyễn Tinh tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hoàng Tuan Hoang hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. If Đỗ Chuong had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nguyễn Thien in the 35th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nguyễn Tinh prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Nguyễn Ritchell's late challenge caught a Hai Phong's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nguyễn Ritchell helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Viet Tri getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Nguyễn Ritchell hit a great ball. In the 38th match minute, Viet Tri was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Khoi to maneuver through the defense. One of Hai Phong:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Viet Tri:s goal. In the 69th minute there was a penalty for Viet Tri. Nguyễn Bien stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Nguyễn Tinh. 2-1. Nguyễn Tinh showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Phan Hung in the 75th minute of the match. Phạm Thien hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. 77 minutes into the match, Hai Phong's goal looked a bit too open when Nguyễn Thien came free, but Nguyễn Tinh reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nguyễn Nam made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Phạm Chuong in the 82nd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Hai Phong's Hoàng Tuan Hoang got a free kick in the 89th minute. Hai Phong's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
