After a defensive mix-up in Tuyen Quang's zone, Đào Van Tai Em stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dương Thai came out of the goal and Đào Van Tai Em tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 11 minutes, Đào Van Tai Em managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hưng Yên's supporters crossed their fingers, but Đào Van Tai Em was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Đỗ Chuong showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nguyễn Nga , who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. When the match had gone on for 14 minutes, La Khoi put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Đỗ Chuong. A collision led to Tuyen Quang getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Lê Nam hit a great ball. Dương Thai was out of position in the 24 minute of play, and Đào Van Tai Em capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Đào Van Tai Em really showed his touch with that goal: 2-1. 32 minutes into the match, Hưng Yên's goal looked a bit too open when Nguyễn Nga came free, but Đỗ Chuong reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nguyễn Nga in the 33rd minute of play forced Hưng Yên's goalkeeper Đỗ Chuong to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Đào Van Tai Em had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 35 played minutes Tuyen Quang got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Thien . Huỳnh Tuyet received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Dương Thai came out and tried to block the shot, but Huỳnh Tuyet slotted it home off the left post making it 3-1 in the 38th minute. Nguyễn Nga kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nguyễn Nga to make the kick off. After 52 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Tuyen Quang! In the 61st minute Huỳnh Tuyet shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dương Thai saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Đào Van Tai Em recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Huỳnh Tuyet sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Đào Van Tai Em received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Dương Thai tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Đào Van Tai Em sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dương Thai showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Huỳnh Tuyet, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Nghiêm Xuan charged in rather forcefully in the 81st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nghiêm Xuan the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The audience was convinced that Huỳnh Tuyet's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dương Thai was relentless in the 83rd minute of the game. Dương Thai came out of the goal in the 88th minute to try and stop a shot by Hưng Yên's Đào Van Tai Em. But to his dismay, Đào Van Tai Em quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-1. In the 95th minute Đào Van Tai Em shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dương Thai saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Đào Van Tai Em in the 96th minute of play forced Tuyen Quang's goalkeeper Dương Thai to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dương Thai made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Huỳnh Tuyet in the 98th minute of play.
