Nguyễn Tấn Dũng didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Phạm Hong Minh went, in the 7th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. When the match clock showed 17 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Tôn Dung sped through Mui Ne's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Nguyễn Tấn Dũng. Phạm Hong Minh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Tấn Dũng having to interfere. If Trần Quang Thanh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpected shot in the 27th minute by La Tan got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The supporters of Mui Ne booed when Tam Ky was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Phan Thi didn't get a good kick on the ball. La Tan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 32 minutes into the match, Tam Ky's goalkeeper Trần Minh had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by La Tan. In the 33rd minute, Phạm Hong Minh got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Mui Ne's Hoàng Dung got a free kick in the 34th minute. Trần Minh showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Trần Quang Thanh, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. The supporters of Tam Ky booed when Mui Ne was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vương Minh Phượng didn't get a good kick on the ball. Trần Minh stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Trần Quang Thanh's shot from short distance in the 47th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The audience thought a goal was coming when Tôn Dung got free with Nguyễn Tấn Dũng in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Mui Ne's Nguyễn Tấn Dũng proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save Mui Ne from getting a goal against them. Phạm Hong Minh struck a weak shot in the 64th minute. Nguyễn Tấn Dũng didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tam Ky. La Tan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Trần Minh having to interfere. Tam Ky's Trần Minh played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by La Tan in the 70th minute of play. Nguyễn Phu kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. The supporters of Mui Ne booed when Tam Ky was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Dong didn't get a good kick on the ball. Đặng Hieu took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 77th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Trần Minh. Tam Ky's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Trần Quang Thanh in the 82nd minute of play forced Tam Ky's goalkeeper Trần Minh to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 85 played minutes Tam Ky got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Dong. The audience was convinced that Trần Quang Thanh's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Trần Minh was relentless in the 90th minute of the game. In the 90th match minute, Tam Ky was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Dong to maneuver through the defense. The Tam Ky supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Tam Ky would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
