Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Quang Ngai's Nguyễn Quang started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to Dien Bien getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Võ Dong hit a great ball. 24 minutes into the match, Dien Bien's goalkeeper Phan Phuong had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Huỳnh Hung. When Dien Bien's Nguyễn Hieu Ngan in the 28th minute got a chance for a shot 28th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Quang Ngai's goalie prevented a goal. Lê Hieu kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. 33 minutes into the game, Dien Bien's Võ Dong nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nguyễn Nghiêm-Minh made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Phan Phuong didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Huỳnh Hung went, in the 36th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Phan Phuong made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Quang in the 40th minute of play. Võ Dong recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lê Hoa might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Phan Phuong. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lê Hoa ran back to his position shaking his head. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Lê Hoa during the 47th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 47 played minutes Quang Ngai got a freekick which was hit by Lê Hoa.
54 minutes into the match, Quang Ngai's goal looked a bit too open when Võ Dong came free, but Nguyễn Nghiêm-Minh reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dien Bien's Nguyễn Hieu Ngan got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nguyễn Hieu Ngan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Nguyễn Nghiêm-Minh made a huge save. Nguyễn Lam kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. In the 63rd minute, Võ Dong got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Dien Bien's Phan Phuong played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Huỳnh Hung in the 67th minute of play. In the 67th match minute, Dien Bien was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Lam to maneuver through the defense. 70 minutes into the match, Quang Ngai's Nguyễn Quang sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Phan Phuong narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Huỳnh Hung struck a weak shot in the 73rd minute. Phan Phuong didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Quang Ngai. Nguyễn Quang sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 85 played minutes Dien Bien got a freekick which was hit by Lê Hieu. Phan Phuong made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Quang in the 91st minute of play. In the 97th minute Nguyễn Quang shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Phan Phuong saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
