In the 2nd minute, Trần Duy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lương Chuong struck a weak shot in the 6th minute. Lê Chung sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After having played for 25 minutes, Trần Duy managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Da Lat's supporters crossed their fingers, but Trần Duy was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Đinh Chuong during the 25th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 26th match minute, Ho Chi Minh City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Đinh Chuong to maneuver through the defense. In the 28th minute the ball was on its way in behind Da Lat's goalkeeper Nguyễn Hung, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Nguyễn Thien's late challenge caught a Ho Chi Minh City's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The Ho Chi Minh City fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nguyễn Khoi should have stopped the shot. Nguyễn Thi Ngoc sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nguyễn Hung made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lê Chung in the 51st minute of play. After 54 minutes of play, Da Lat's Trần Duy made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nguyễn Khoi was left in no man's land by his defense there! Đinh Chuong got his second yellow card in the match during the 59th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 60th minute, Đinh Chuong hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lương Chuong in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nguyễn Hung saved Da Lat from getting behind. If Triệu Phuc had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Lương Chuong received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Nguyễn Hung tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 72nd match minute, Da Lat was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Teo to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Ho Chi Minh City getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Phạm Thuyet hit a great ball. In the 78th minute, Lương Chuong got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Da Lat's zone, Lê Chung stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nguyễn Hung came out of the goal and Lê Chung tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 86 minutes into the match, Da Lat's goal looked a bit too open when Lương Chuong came free, but Nguyễn Hung reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
